Get Ready to DOGPILE!

I try not to get into debates about who the new coach should be, but likely, the person who knows the most about doing it should probably apply for the job.  I mean, I don’t go around pretending to know more about coaching than someone else.  But, as reflected in the comic, I’m sure Jerry could do worse than Coach Robert Livingston Medlin, real world awesome coach.

Also, there’s this question about the Vic-20 in the strip, on occasion.  Let’s just say in the C&S Universe, the Commodore Computer company rules and all other PC’s went the way of the dinosaur.  I’m sure all four of my Antithesis Art collegues will appreciate the throwback, since most of you guys write at least a little code.

Airhorns Rule.

This weeks Casey and Scotty webcomic features a character by the name of ‘Uncle Steve’.  The real Steve lost his battle with cancer in the spring.  He was our biggest fan, our most loyal reader, and although he was my brother in law, he was more like my big brother.  I miss him every day, but thanks to his wonderful bride, Tammy, we get to feature him in the strip.

Natural Enemies

I had been mulling over what to do for “Natural Enemies” for a while and I had decided to do a picture of my Siberian Husky barking at the vacuum cleaner. I took several reference shots of her agitation and hatred over the course of the last couple of weeks whenever the vacuum was run, but I wasn’t satisfied with a pose.

Today I had a brutal reminder that while our noble dog is a pet, in her chest beats the heart of a predator. Dawn let Lola out into the yard today to take care of some business. Unfortunately, the neighbor’s chickens were also in the yard. Nature took its course and soon I was chasing the dog around trying to catch her long enough to pull the suffering chicken out of her jaws and dispatch the poor bird.

Needless to say, that image sticks with you. And so, instead of Lola barking her fear and loathing at the vacuum, here is our Lola, proud and defiant with Henrieta clucking her last in the rain today.
